" Step Outside " Is a jigsaw puzzle of sorts, the original rhythm bed was created as a remix for a group called " Nachur " (Prosad Freeman and Isaac Chambers). After half finishing the remix and sharing it with everybody involved a conversation went down between Haz and Isaac. The idea or motion that the remix should become more of a live version than a studio remix was agreed upon and the creative process pushed forward slowly..
Months later when Saelyn was in Chch she heard the version and got a feel for it. Soon after that at a live gig Saelyn dropped one of her original tracks (2 Tui) which she usually performed as a solo acoustic song, over the rhythm bed and the tune as you now hear it was born.
Sometime after that we eventually got everything recorded and re recorded, Dee played some extra organ skanks on the Juno and we sent versions back and forth between Australia, Canada, Riverton and Christchurch the tune grew and grew and finally version 27 was given the all clear by everybody involved.
It was too hard to choose what to call the song as it is a combination of songs so Harry named it "Step Outside " because that was such a prominent part of the vocal that had got stuck in his head after nights and nights of arranging the vocal.
